Earth Care, Green Bible and Roman Catholicism

What a surprise to observe, in the latest issue of the MB Herald June 2010, which items have been chosen as important enough to make the “Short Stuff” cut by today’s Mennonites.

MB Herald calls A New Kind of Christianity “a book on freedom”

The latest (June 2010) MB Herald contains a dangerously favorable review (by an MB pastor) of the newest published work from emerging church leader and heretic, Brian McLaren. Here’s what we read on page 32:

Freeing Jesus from Western Christianity

A New Kind of Christianity:
Ten Questions that are Transforming the Faith
Brian D. McLaren
Harper One, 2010
320 pages

“…A New Kind of Christianity is one of the most significant spiritual works I have encountered. I feel more compelled than ever to understand God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in a different way – a way that honours biblical history and God’s role throughout Scripture – not just the Gospels, Acts, and Paul. Through McLaren’s book, I feel freer to describe God through story, narrative, and experience as I see and understand God at work through the Bible, and also in the world as we know it. I will return to the latter chapters of the book, where he unpacks what this paradigm shift has for the church. I have already begun sharing my perspectives on a refreshed understanding of Christianity.

In the end, A New Kind of Christianity is a book on freedom. Are you ready for freedom?”

–Noel Hudson

[According to the MB Herald, Noel Hudson, pastor of Elm Creek MB Church (Manitoba), is fond of the emerging church conversation, and therefore has been taken captive by the emerging church deception.]
