A polite question for Mennonites who are too polite to say anything about the false teaching in their denomination

Oh Mennonite Brethren:
As the false teachings of Roman Catholic contemplative spirituality and unbiblical mysticism are being taught in your seminaries, at your conferences and retreats, from your pulpits, through your church plants, in your magazine articles, by your pastors, to your men, women and youth – why are you too passively polite to say anything?

Was Menno Simons polite to false teachers?

Read THIS and decide.

Was Jesus polite to false teachers?

Watch this and decide:

If Menno Simons (whose name you use to label yourselves) was not polite to false teachers, and if Jesus was not polite to false teachers, then why are you so polite to the false teachers and wolves in your midst?

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1

  1. I think there are several reasons this has happened:

    1. Christian educational institutes, churches, and people who are in the position to do so have stopped warning people about false doctrine and false teachers, perhaps even stopped teaching about the cults, giving a false sense of security and giving the impression that we no longer have an Adversary whose reason for existing is to deceive and draw people away from the Truth. The shepherds are no longer obeying Scripture when they do not guard the flock, which is their responsibility. They have underestimated the subtlety of the Enemy of our souls and failed to understand what prophecy reveals about the end times and the role that deception plays in that regard.
    2. The Mennonite Brethren stand on pacificism has leaked into our spiritual lives. We no longer believe we are in a spiritual battle against the Evil One; either that, or we have forgotten how to fight the spiritual battle. Or maybe we don’t even understand what we are really battling against. The unbiblical desire to cooperate and dialogue with unbelievers to accomplish our goals is leading to spiritual compromise. Jesus, the disciples and the apostles did not collaborate with unbelievers to spread the gospel or any other spiritual endeavor; in the early church they were “called out” if they did not belong to or were disobedient to Christ.
    3. We don’t want to “bite the hand that feeds us”, and are unaware that the hands feeding us are the hands of wolves, due to #1. There is too much borrowing from other traditions and their teachers going on in the academic world, leading to a false sense of unity with them (it is a demonstration of their desire for unity above truth, the ecumenical spirit of compromise). Unity without a basis of truth is false unity. See John 17 on what true unity is.

I am reminded of the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpL1C7ljzo0) in a big way through all of this. The wolf, a suave, smooth-talking creature approaches a naive little girl, offering to help her, and Little Red Riding Hood, in her innocence/naivety, and in direct disobedience to her mothers’ words, accepts. The sly wolf, running ahead of her, disguises himself as her Grandmother and tries to deceive her with cunning words, intending to devour her. At the last moment her father, the woodcutter arrives at the cabin with his axe, and the wolf escapes in fear of his life. The moral of the story given at the end of the story is this: FROM THAT DAY ON LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD LEARNED NOT TO STRAY FROM THE PATH AND TO BE ON GUARD AGAINST SMOOTH-TALKING STRANGERS.

Will God rescue the Mennonite Brethren from the smooth-talking wolves? Well, only if they return to read and believe what His Word has to say about false teachers/doctrine and they are committed to staying on the path of truth. Right now, they are dialoguing with wolves, working with wolves, and don’t even recognize them as wolves. If they don’t repent and turn to their Heavenly Father in humility and cry out for help, they will be devoured. We aren’t in a fairy tale, and real life doesn’t always have happy endings. God WILL discipline those who stray from His truth.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:4-10
